Product Information:
ZOLIGET 15mg/2mg Tablets is a fixed-dose combination of two oral antidiabetic agents:
- Pioglitazone Hydrochloride 15mg – a thiazolidinedione (TZD) that enhances insulin sensitivity in muscle, fat, and liver by activating PPAR-γ receptors
- Glimepiride 2mg – a sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells
This dual-mechanism combination addresses both insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion, two key pathophysiological defects in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Uses of (ZOLIGET 15MG/2MG TABLETS):
- Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults
- Patients inadequately controlled on pioglitazone or glimepiride monotherapy
- Those requiring dual therapy targeting both insulin sensitivity and insulin release
Key Benefits of (ZOLIGET 15MG/2MG TABLETS):
- Dual action improves fasting and postprandial glycemic control
- Pioglitazone reduces insulin resistance without causing hypoglycemia
- Glimepiride provides consistent insulin stimulation with once-daily dosing
- Reduces pill burden and improves adherence
How To Use (ZOLIGET 15MG/2MG TABLETS):
- Take once daily with breakfast or the first main meal to reduce hypoglycemia risk.
- Swallow whole with water—do not crush or chew.

- History of bladder cancer (pioglitazone risk)
- Heart failure (NYHA Class III or IV)
- Hypersensitivity to pioglitazone, glimepiride, or sulfonylureas
⚠️ Note: Glimepiride can cause hypoglycemia—avoid alcohol and ensure regular meals.

Dosage: (ZOLIGET 15MG/2MG TABLETS):
- Adults: 1 tablet once daily with breakfast
- Maximum daily dose: Pioglitazone 45mg + Glimepiride 8mg
- Elderly or hepatic/renal impairment: Use with caution; may require lower doses
Who It’s For (ZOLIGET 15MG/2MG TABLETS):
Adults with type 2 diabetes who require combination therapy targeting both insulin resistance and deficient insulin secretion, and who can adhere to regular meal schedules to mitigate hypoglycemia risk.
Warnings & Precautions:
- Monitor blood glucose regularly, especially during dose changes
- Avoid alcohol—increases hypoglycemia risk
- Assess for heart failure symptoms and bladder cancer signs periodically
- Use caution in elderly patients (higher hypoglycemia risk)
- Discontinue 48 hours before iodinated contrast procedures (due to metformin-free but glimepiride risk)
Drug Interactions:
- Beta-blockers: May mask hypoglycemia symptoms
- NSAIDs, salicylates, sulfonamides: ↑ Hypoglycemia risk
