Cefuroxime axetil works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis and is active against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, including many beta-lactamase-producing strains such as Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis.

⚠️ Note: While standard cefuroxime axetil is typically dosed twice daily, the XR (extended-release) formulation enables once-daily administration, improving patient adherence—especially in outpatient settings.
