Product Information:

TAMSOLIN-S Tablets are a fixed-dose combination containing:

1. Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4mg – a selective alpha-1A adrenergic receptor antagonist that relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck
2. Solifenacin Succinate 5mg – a muscarinic receptor antagonist that reduces involuntary bladder contractions

This dual-action formulation is used to treat mixed lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) who also experience overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms such as urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence.

⚠️ Important Note:

This combination addresses both obstructive (from BPH) and irritative/storage (from OAB) urinary symptoms. It is not for use in women or children.

When Not to Use (TAMSOLIN-S TABLETS):

Do not use if you have:

1. Urinary retention or gastric retention
2. Uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma
3. Severe hepatic impairment
4. Hypersensitivity to tamsulosin or solifenacin
5. Concomitant use of strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole) without medical supervision

Side Effects of (TAMSOLIN-S TABLETS):

Common:

1. Dry mouth (due to solifenacin)
2. Retrograde ejaculation (dry orgasm—due to tamsulosin)
3. Constipation, blurred vision
4. Dizziness, headache

Less common:

1. Nasal congestion, fatigue
2. Urinary tract infection

Serious (rare):

1. Acute urinary retention (especially if detrusor underactivity is present)
2. Severe constipation or ileus
3. Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS) during cataract surgery—inform your ophthalmologist
4. Discontinue and seek help if inability to urinate, severe abdominal pain, or vision changes occur.

Dosage: (TAMSOLIN-S TABLETS):

1. Adult men: One tablet (tamsulosin 0.4mg + solifenacin 5mg) once daily
2. Elderly: Generally well-tolerated; monitor for anticholinergic effects
3. Mild to moderate hepatic/renal impairment: Use with caution
4. Severe impairment: Avoid

Who It’s For (TAMSOLIN-S TABLETS):

Men with BPH and bothersome storage symptoms (urgency, frequency) who do not respond adequately to alpha-blocker monotherapy.

Warnings & Precautions:

1. Avoid driving or operating machinery until response is known (dizziness, blurred vision)
2. Stay hydrated and avoid overheating (solifenacin reduces sweating)
3. Inform all surgeons—especially eye surgeons—about tamsulosin use due to IFIS risk
4. Use caution in patients with GI motility disorders or autonomic neuropathy

Drug Interactions:

1. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, clarithromycin): May ↑ levels of both drugs—use with caution
2. Other anticholinergics (e.g., diphenhydramine): Additive dry mouth, constipation, confusion
3. Alpha-blockers or antihypertensives: Additive hypotensive effects
4. Always inform your doctor about all medications.
