Product Information:
SILORAP 4mg Capsules contain Silodosin 4mg, a selective alpha-1A adrenergic receptor antagonist used to treat the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in adult men. By blocking alpha-1A receptors in the prostate and bladder neck, silodosin relaxes smooth muscle, improving urine flow and reducing urinary obstruction.
This formulation is specifically designed for once-daily dosing with high uroselectivity—minimizing effects on blood pressure compared to non-selective alpha-blockers.
Uses of (SILORAP 4MG CAPSULES):
- Relief of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to BPH, including:
- Weak urine stream
- Hesitancy
- Incomplete bladder emptying
- Frequent or urgent urination
- Nocturia (nighttime urination)
Key Benefits of (SILORAP 4MG CAPSULES):
- High selectivity for prostate/bladder alpha-1A receptors—less effect on vascular alpha-1B receptors
- Rapid improvement in urine flow (within days)
- Once-daily dosing for consistent symptom control
- Lower risk of orthostatic hypotension compared to older alpha-blockers (e.g., terazosin)
How To Use (SILORAP 4MG CAPSULES):
- Take one capsule (4mg) once daily with a meal (food enhances absorption and reduces side effects).
- Swallow whole with water—do not crush, chew, or open the capsule.
- Take at the same time each day for best results.
- Continue therapy as prescribed—even if symptoms improve.
When Not to Use (SILORAP 4MG CAPSULES):
Do not use if you have:
- Severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh C)
- Severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min)
- Hypersensitivity to silodosin or any excipients
- Concomitant use of strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir)
⚠️ Note: SILORAP is for men only. Women (especially pregnant) should avoid handling crushed or broken capsules due to potential fetal harm.
Side Effects of (SILORAP 4MG CAPSULES):
Common:
- Retrograde ejaculation (dry orgasm)—most common (~20–30%), harmless but may affect fertility
- Dizziness, headache
- Nasal congestion, diarrhea
Less common:
- Orthostatic hypotension (less frequent than with non-selective alpha-blockers)
- Ejaculation disorder, fatigue
Serious (rare):

- Priapism (prolonged erection—seek emergency care)
- Discontinue and seek help if vision changes or prolonged erection occur.
Dosage: (SILORAP 4MG CAPSULES):
- Adults with normal renal/hepatic function: 4mg once daily with food
- Mild to moderate renal impairment (CrCl ≥30 mL/min): No dose adjustment needed
- Severe renal or hepatic impairment: Avoid or use with extreme caution
- Elderly: Generally well-tolerated; no routine dose change
Who It’s For (SILORAP 4MG CAPSULES):
Adult men diagnosed with moderate to severe BPH seeking relief from urinary symptoms without significant blood pressure effects.
Warnings & Precautions:
- Inform all surgeons (especially eye surgeons) about silodosin use due to IFIS risk
- Avoid driving or operating machinery until response is known (dizziness possible)
- Use caution with other antihypertensives—may enhance blood pressure-lowering effects
- Not indicated for hypertension treatment
Drug Interactions:
- Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, clarithromycin, ritonavir): ↑ Silodosin levels—avoid combination
- Other alpha-blockers or antihypertensives: ↑ Risk of hypotension
- PDE5 inhibitors (sildenafil, tadalafil): May enhance hypotensive effects
- Always inform your doctor about all medications.
