Product Information:

SEM-P 2mg Pre-filled Pen contains Semaglutide 2mg, a once-weekly GLP-1 receptor agonist used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic weight management in adults. Semaglutide mimics the action of the natural incretin hormone GLP-1, enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppressing glucagon release, slowing gastric emptying, and promoting satiety.

⚠️ Important Note:

The standard approved dose of semaglutide for diabetes (Ozempic®) is 0.25 mg → 0.5 mg → 1.0 mg once weekly, with 2.0 mg as a higher maintenance dose (approved in many regions including the EU and Pakistan). For weight management (Wegovy®), the full dose is 2.4 mg weekly.

SEM-P 2mg likely corresponds to the 2.0 mg diabetes dose in a pre-filled pen device.

When Not to Use (SEM-P 2MG PRE-FILLED PEN):

Do not use if you have:

1. Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
2. Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
3. Hypersensitivity to semaglutide or any excipients
4. Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis

⚠️ Black Box Warning:

Semaglutide causes thyroid C-cell tumors in rodents. Relevance to humans is unknown—contraindicated in patients with MTC risk.

Side Effects of (SEM-P 2MG PRE-FILLED PEN):

Common (usually mild and transient):

1. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation
2. Abdominal pain, decreased appetite
3. Injection site reactions (redness, itching)

Less common:

1. Gallbladder disorders (gallstones, cholecystitis)
2. Increased amylase/lipase levels
3. Fatigue, dizziness

Serious (rare but require monitoring):

1. Pancreatitis (persistent severe abdominal pain)—discontinue if suspected
2. Diabetic retinopathy complications (in patients with pre-existing retinopathy)
3. Acute kidney injury (due to dehydration from GI effects)
