This leads to a significant reduction in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C or “bad” cholesterol), triglycerides, and a modest increase in high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C or “good” cholesterol).

This moderate-strength formulation is widely used for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease and is often the target maintenance dose for many patients after initiating therapy at a lower dose.
