RISEK 40mg IV Infusion contains Rabeprazole Sodium 40mg as a lyophilized powder for reconstitution, formulated for intravenous (IV) administration. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that irreversibly inhibits the H⁺/K⁺ ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, providing rapid and potent suppression of gastric acid secretion.

This IV formulation is used when oral therapy is not feasible—such as in critically ill, postoperative, or vomiting patients—and immediate acid control is required.

Uses of (RISEK 40MG IV INFUSION):

1. Prevention and treatment of stress ulcers in critically ill, intubated patients
2. Management of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (e.g., peptic ulcer hemorrhage) as adjunct to endoscopic therapy
3. Treatment of severe GERD or erosive esophagitis when oral intake is not possible
4. Control of acid hypersecretion in Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (when oral route unavailable)

Side Effects of (RISEK 40MG IV INFUSION):

Serious (rare):

1. Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea
2. Hypomagnesemia (with prolonged use)

Hospitalized adults who are unable to take oral medications due to surgery, critical illness, vomiting, or altered mental status, and require immediate and sustained gastric acid suppression.

Warnings & Precautions:

1. Use only when oral PPIs are not feasible
2. Monitor for C. diff diarrhea in prolonged ICU stays
3. Avoid long-term IV use—switch to oral therapy as soon as possible
4. Reconstituted solution is stable for 4 hours at room temperature

Drug Interactions:

1. Atazanavir, rilpivirine: ↓ Absorption—avoid concomitant use
2. Clopidogrel: Rabeprazole has minimal interaction (safer than omeprazole)
3. Methotrexate: PPIs may ↑ levels—monitor toxicity
4. Always inform your doctor about all medications.
