Product Information:
PANTRA PLUS Tablets are a fixed-dose combination containing:
- Pantoprazole 40mg – a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid production
- Domperidone 30mg – a dopamine D2-receptor antagonist that enhances gastric motility and reduces nausea
This dual-action formulation is designed to manage acid-related disorders with associated dyspepsia, bloating, or delayed gastric emptying, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), functional dyspepsia, and gastritis.
⚠️ Important Safety Note:
Domperidone carries a risk of cardiac arrhythmias (QT prolongation), especially at high doses or in patients with cardiac risk factors. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration (typically ≤1 week). Not recommended in patients >60 years or with pre-existing heart conditions unless benefits outweigh risks.
Uses of (PANTRA PLUS TABLETS):
- Treatment of GERD with associated bloating, early satiety, or nausea
- Management of functional dyspepsia (indigestion with fullness, belching, upper abdominal discomfort)
- Relief of gastritis with delayed gastric emptying
- Adjunct in post-meal discomfort and regurgitation
Key Benefits of (PANTRA PLUS TABLETS):
- Dual mechanism: Acid suppression + prokinetic action
- Faster relief of bloating, nausea, and postprandial fullness compared to PPI alone
- Once-daily dosing for convenience
- Effective in patients with overlapping acid and motility symptoms
How To Use (PANTRA PLUS TABLETS):
- Take one tablet once daily, preferably 30–60 minutes before breakfast.
- Swallow whole with water—do not crush or chew.
- Duration: Short-term use only (5–7 days) unless directed otherwise by a physician.
- Avoid long-term domperidone use due to cardiac safety concerns.
When Not to Use (PANTRA PLUS TABLETS):
Do not use if you have:
- Known hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or domperidone
- Prolactinoma or pituitary tumor
- Moderate to severe hepatic impairment
- Cardiac conduction abnormalities (e.g., QT prolongation, heart failure, arrhythmias)
- Concomitant use of QT-prolonging drugs (e.g., erythromycin, fluconazole, amiodarone)
- History of gastrointestinal hemorrhage, obstruction, or perforation
Side Effects of (PANTRA PLUS TABLETS):
Common: Headache, diarrhea, dry mouth, dizziness, abdominal pain.
Less common: Galactorrhea (due to elevated prolactin), menstrual irregularities, restlessness.
Serious (rare but require monitoring):
- QT prolongation → torsades de pointes (palpitations, syncope)
- Extrapyramidal symptoms (especially in young women or high doses)
- Hypomagnesemia (with prolonged PPI use)
- Discontinue and seek medical help if chest palpitations, fainting, or involuntary muscle movements occur.
Dosage: (PANTRA PLUS TABLETS):
- Adults: One tablet (40mg pantoprazole + 30mg domperidone) once daily before breakfast
- Maximum duration: 7 days without medical review
- Elderly (>60 years): Avoid unless strongly indicated and cardiac risk assessed
- Not for children <12 years
Who It’s For (PANTRA PLUS TABLETS):
Adults with GERD or dyspepsia accompanied by bloating, nausea, or slow digestion, who require both acid control and gastric motility enhancement—preferably for short-term symptomatic relief.
Warnings & Precautions:
- Avoid in patients with known heart disease or electrolyte imbalances
- Do not exceed recommended dose or duration
- Monitor for signs of arrhythmia (palpitations, dizziness, fainting)
- Rule out organic causes (e.g., ulcer, malignancy) in persistent dyspepsia
- Pantoprazole component may mask gastric cancer symptoms
Drug Interactions:
- QT-prolonging drugs: ↑ Risk of arrhythmias—avoid combination
- Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, clarithromycin): ↑ Domperidone levels
- Antacids: May reduce domperidone absorption—administer 2 hours apart
- Warfarin, methotrexate: Pantoprazole may alter levels
- Always inform your doctor about all medications.
