PANTRA INJECTION 5S is a pack of 5 single-use vials, each containing Pantoprazole 40mg as a lyophilized powder for reconstitution. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺ ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells.

This intravenous formulation is used when oral administration is not feasible or rapid acid control is required in hospitalized patients.

Uses of (PANTRA INJECTION 5S):

1. Treatment of severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) with erosive esophagitis when oral therapy is not possible
2. Management of acute gastric or duodenal ulcer bleeding (as adjunct to endoscopic therapy)
3. Prevention of stress ulcers in critically ill, intubated patients
4. Control of acid hypersecretion in Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (when oral route unavailable)

How To Use (PANTRA INJECTION 5S):

When Not to Use (PANTRA INJECTION 5S):

Do not use if you have:

1. Hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or any excipients (e.g., mannitol, sodium edetate)
2. Concurrent use of atazanavir or rilpivirine (HIV medications)
3. Severe hepatic impairment (use with caution; max 20mg/day)

Side Effects of (PANTRA INJECTION 5S):

Common: Headache, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, injection site reactions.

Rare: Dizziness, rash, flushing during infusion.

Serious (rare):

1. Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea
2. Hypomagnesemia (with prolonged use >1 year)
3. Acute interstitial nephritis
4. Anaphylaxis (very rare)
5. Discontinue and seek help if severe allergic reaction or persistent diarrhea occurs.

Warnings & Precautions:

2. Monitor for C. diff diarrhea in prolonged ICU stays
3. Avoid long-term IV use—switch to oral as soon as possible
4. Reconstituted solution is stable for 3 hours at room temperature

Drug Interactions:

1. Atazanavir, rilpivirine: ↓ Absorption—avoid concomitant use
2. Clopidogrel: Pantoprazole has minimal interaction (safer than omeprazole)
3. Methotrexate: PPIs may ↑ levels—monitor toxicity
4. Always inform your doctor about all medications.
