Product Information:
LYTA 30mg Capsules contain Lansoprazole 30mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that provides potent and long-lasting suppression of gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺ ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells. This higher strength is used for more severe or refractory acid-related conditions.
Uses of (LYTA 30MG CAPSULES):
- Treatment of severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) with erosive esophagitis
- Healing of refractory gastric or duodenal ulcers
- Management of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (gastrin-secreting tumors)
- Helicobacter pylori eradication (as part of high-dose dual or triple therapy)
- Prevention of NSAID-induced ulcers in very high-risk patients
Key Benefits of (LYTA 30MG CAPSULES):
- Stronger acid suppression than 15mg or 20mg doses
- Promotes faster healing of severe esophageal or gastric lesions
- Once-daily dosing for improved adherence
- Effective in conditions unresponsive to lower PPI doses
How To Use (LYTA 30MG CAPSULES):
- Take once daily, preferably 30–60 minutes before breakfast (or first meal of the day).
- Swallow whole with water—do not crush, chew, or open the capsule (enteric-coated granules may be damaged).
- For H. pylori eradication: May be used as 30mg twice daily with antibiotics for 7–14 days (per local guidelines).
- Duration: Typically 4–8 weeks; longer only under medical supervision.
When Not to Use (LYTA 30MG CAPSULES):
Do not use if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to lansoprazole or other benzimidazole PPIs (e.g., omeprazole, pantoprazole)
- Concurrent use of atazanavir or rilpivirine (PPIs significantly reduce their absorption)
- Severe hepatic impairment (use with caution; consider lower dose)
Side Effects of (LYTA 30MG CAPSULES):
Common: Headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, flatulence.
Rare: Dizziness, rash, dry mouth, vitamin B12 or magnesium deficiency (with prolonged use).
Serious (rare, usually with long-term use >1 year):
- Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea
- Increased risk of osteoporosis-related fractures (hip, wrist, spine)
- Hypomagnesemia (muscle spasms, seizures, arrhythmias)
- Acute interstitial nephritis (fever, rash, reduced urine output)
- Discontinue and seek medical help if severe diarrhea, bone pain, or irregular heartbeat occurs.
Dosage: (LYTA 30MG CAPSULES):
- Severe GERD / Erosive Esophagitis: 30mg once daily for 4–8 weeks
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: 30–60mg once daily (dose individualized)
- H. pylori Eradication: 30mg twice daily + two antibiotics for 7–14 days
- NSAID Ulcer Prophylaxis (high-risk): 30mg once daily
- Elderly or mild hepatic impairment: Use lowest effective dose
Who It’s For (LYTA 30MG CAPSULES):
Adults with severe or treatment-resistant acid-related disorders, including erosive esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, or those failing lower-dose PPI therapy.
Warnings & Precautions:
- Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary
- Long-term use (>1 year) requires monitoring of serum magnesium, vitamin B12, and bone mineral density
- May mask symptoms of gastric malignancy—investigate persistent dyspepsia
- Avoid in patients on atazanavir or rilpivirine (HIV medications)
Drug Interactions:
- Atazanavir, rilpivirine: ↓ Absorption—contraindicated
- Clopidogrel: Lansoprazole has minimal interaction (preferred over omeprazole)
- Methotrexate: PPIs may ↑ toxicity—monitor levels
- Iron, ketoconazole, digoxin: Altered absorption due to increased gastric pH
- Always inform your doctor about all medications.
