Product Information:
LIPIGET EZ 40mg + 10mg Tablets is a fixed-dose combination of:
- Atorvastatin 40mg – a potent statin that inhibits HMG-CoA reductase in the liver, significantly reducing endogenous cholesterol synthesis
- Ezetimibe 10mg – a cholesterol absorption inhibitor that blocks the NPC1L1 transporter in the small intestine, decreasing dietary and biliary cholesterol uptake
This high-efficacy dual therapy provides complementary mechanisms for intensive LDL-cholesterol lowering, often used in patients at very high cardiovascular risk or with familial hypercholesterolemia.
Uses of (LIPIGET EZ 40MG + 10MG TABLETS):
- Primary hyperlipidemia (heterozygous familial and non-familial)
- Mixed dyslipidemia (Fredrickson Types IIa and IIb)
- Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (as adjunctive therapy)
- Patients not achieving LDL goals on high-intensity statin monotherapy
- Secondary prevention in very high-risk patients (e.g., recent ACS, diabetes with target organ damage, established CVD)
Key Benefits of (LIPIGET EZ 40MG + 10MG TABLETS):
- Reduces LDL cholesterol by up to 60–65%—greater than either agent alone
- Also lowers total cholesterol, triglycerides, and apolipoprotein B
- Modestly increases HDL ("good") cholesterol
- Once-daily dosing improves long-term adherence
- May reduce statin dose in some cases while maintaining efficacy
How To Use (LIPIGET EZ 40MG + 10MG TABLETS):
- Take one tablet once daily, with or without food (preferably in the evening, though atorvastatin is effective at any time).
- Swallow whole with water—do not crush or chew.
- Continue heart-healthy diet, exercise, and weight management.
- Monitor lipid profile, liver enzymes, and muscle symptoms regularly.
When Not to Use (LIPIGET EZ 40MG + 10MG TABLETS):
Do not use if you have:
- Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations in liver transaminases
- Hypersensitivity to atorvastatin, ezetimibe, or any excipients
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding (risk of fetal harm)
- Concomitant use of strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., itraconazole, clarithromycin, HIV protease inhibitors)—contraindicated with atorvastatin 40mg+
Side Effects of (LIPIGET EZ 40MG + 10MG TABLETS):
Common: Headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, muscle aches, fatigue, nausea.
Rare: Elevated liver enzymes, joint pain, insomnia.
Serious (require immediate attention):
- Myopathy/rhabdomyolysis (unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, dark urine)
- Hepatotoxicity (jaundice, dark urine, right upper quadrant pain)
- Discontinue and seek medical help if these occur.
Dosage: (LIPIGET EZ 40MG + 10MG TABLETS):
- Adults: One tablet (atorvastatin 40mg + ezetimibe 10mg) once daily
- Maximum recommended atorvastatin dose with ezetimibe: 80mg/10mg (only if benefit outweighs risk)
- Not for children <10 years
Who It’s For (LIPIGET EZ 40MG + 10MG TABLETS):
Adults at very high cardiovascular risk or with severe hypercholesterolemia who require intensive lipid-lowering beyond standard statin therapy, including those with clinical ASCVD or familial hypercholesterolemia.
Warnings & Precautions:
- Baseline and periodic liver function tests are recommended
- Advise patients to report any unexplained muscle symptoms immediately

- Use caution in elderly, hypothyroid, or renal-impaired patients
- Temporarily discontinue before major elective surgery
Drug Interactions:
- Cyclosporine: ↑ Ezetimibe exposure—use with caution
- Fibrates (e.g., gemfibrozil): ↑ Risk of myopathy—avoid combination if possible
- Warfarin: Monitor INR (atorvastatin may enhance effect)
- Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors: Contraindicated with atorvastatin ≥40mg due to ↑ myopathy risk
