Detail Description

Product Information:

GETOFIN 500mg IV Injection contains Ceftriaxone 500mg as the active ingredient. Ceftriaxone is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria meningitidis, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., and Proteus mirabilis. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death.

This intermediate-strength intravenous (IV) formulation is commonly used for moderate infections, pediatric patients, or as part of step-down therapy in adults requiring parenteral antibiotic treatment.

⚠️ Note: Despite the brand name "GETOFIN," this product is not related to finasteride or antifungal agents—it is a cephalosporin antibiotic.

Uses of (GETOFIN 500MG IV INJECTION):

  1. Moderate community-acquired pneumonia
  2. Uncomplicated to moderately complicated urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  3. Skin and soft tissue infections
  4. Pediatric bacterial infections (dose adjusted by weight)
  5. Intra-abdominal infections (in combination with metronidazole)
  6. Surgical prophylaxis in moderate-risk procedures

  6. Duration: Usually 5–10 days for moderate infections

  2. Monitor for C. difficile diarrhea during or after treatment
  3. Do not mix with calcium-containing solutions (especially in neonates)
  4. Cross-reactivity with penicillins: ~5–10% risk in allergic individuals
