Product Information:
GABICA CR 82.5mg Tablets contain Pregabalin 82.5mg in a controlled-release (CR) formulation. Pregabalin is a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) analog that binds to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters involved in neuropathic pain, seizure activity, and anxiety.
This low-strength controlled-release formulation is primarily used for initial titration, elderly patients, or individuals with mild symptoms or renal impairment who require once-daily dosing with enhanced tolerability.
⚠️ Note: The 82.5mg strength is specifically designed for once-daily dosing and is not interchangeable with immediate-release pregabalin on a mg-per-mg basis.
Uses of (GABICA CR 82.5MG TABLETS):
- Initial treatment of neuropathic pain (e.g., diabetic neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia)
- Adjunctive therapy in partial-onset seizures in sensitive or elderly patients
- Off-label use in generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) at low doses
- Patients with mild renal impairment requiring reduced dosing with once-daily convenience
Key Benefits of (GABICA CR 82.5MG TABLETS):
- Once-daily dosing improves adherence, especially in elderly patients
- Controlled-release mechanism provides steady drug levels, reducing peak-related side effects (e.g., dizziness, drowsiness)
- Lower starting dose minimizes risk of adverse effects during initiation
- Ideal for gradual dose escalation to higher CR strengths (e.g., 165mg or 330mg)
How To Use (GABICA CR 82.5MG TABLETS):
- Take once daily, preferably after an evening meal (food enhances absorption).
- Swallow whole with water—do not crush, chew, split, or dissolve (doing so destroys the controlled-release mechanism).
- Take at the same time each day.
- Do not stop abruptly—taper gradually under medical supervision to avoid withdrawal symptoms (insomnia, headache, nausea, or seizures).
When Not to Use (GABICA CR 82.5MG TABLETS):
Do not use if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to pregabalin or any excipients
- History of angioedema with pregabalin
- Severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min)—alternative dosing required
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding (unless clearly needed after risk-benefit assessment)
Side Effects of (GABICA CR 82.5MG TABLETS):
Common (less frequent at this dose): Mild dizziness, slight drowsiness, dry mouth, or headache.
Rare: Fatigue, mild peripheral edema, blurred vision.
Serious (very rare at low dose):
- Angioedema (facial or throat swelling)
- Mood changes or suicidal thoughts
- Discontinue and seek medical help if severe reactions occur.
Dosage: (GABICA CR 82.5MG TABLETS):
- Starting dose: 82.5mg once daily (evening)
- May be increased after 1 week to 165mg once daily, based on response and tolerability
- Renal impairment (CrCl 30–59 mL/min): Use with caution; may require extended dosing intervals
- Elderly: Preferred initial CR dose due to reduced kidney function and sensitivity to CNS effects
Who It’s For (GABICA CR 82.5MG TABLETS):
- Elderly patients initiating pregabalin therapy
- Individuals with mild neuropathic pain or anxiety
- Patients with mild renal impairment needing simplified dosing
- Those transitioning from immediate-release pregabalin to once-daily CR formulation
Warnings & Precautions:
- May still cause drowsiness—avoid driving until effects are known
- Monitor for mood changes, even at low doses
