CIPESTA 250mg Tablets contain Ciprofloxacin as the active ingredient, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV—enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, and repair. This results in rapid bactericidal activity against a broad spectrum of Gram-negative and selected Gram-positive bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli, Klebsiella, and Proteus species. CIPESTA is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections when oral therapy is appropriate.

How To Use (CIPESTA 250MG TABLETS):

When Not to Use (CIPESTA 250MG TABLETS):

Do not use if you have:

4. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in children/adolescents (<18 years) unless no alternative exists

Side Effects of (CIPESTA 250MG TABLETS):

Common: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, headache, dizziness.

Serious (rare): Tendonitis or tendon rupture (especially Achilles), peripheral neuropathy (numbness, tingling), CNS effects (anxiety, insomnia, seizures), QT prolongation, photosensitivity, or Clostridioides difficile-associated colitis. Discontinue immediately and seek medical help if tendon pain, nerve symptoms, or severe rash occur.

Dosage: (CIPESTA 250MG TABLETS):

1. Uncomplicated UTI: 250mg every 12 hours for 3 days
2. Complicated UTI or respiratory infection: 500mg every 12 hours for 7–14 days
3. Renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min): Reduce dose to 250mg every 24 hours
4. Always follow your physician’s prescribed regimen.

Warnings & Precautions:

Fluoroquinolones carry regulatory warnings for tendon damage, irreversible neuropathy, and CNS effects. Avoid in patients with epilepsy, known QT prolongation, or electrolyte imbalances. Limit sun exposure due to photosensitivity. Reserve for infections with no suitable alternative. Monitor for signs of superinfection or allergic reaction.

Drug Interactions:

1. Tizanidine: Contraindicated—risk of profound sedation and hypotension
2. Theophylline: Increased levels → seizures or arrhythmias
3. Warfarin: Enhanced anticoagulant effect → bleeding risk
4. Antacids, iron, zinc, sucralfate: Significantly reduce absorption—administer ≥2 hours before or 4–6 hours after CIPESTA
5. NSAIDs: May increase risk of CNS stimulation or seizures
