Product Information:
CEFOPERZ IV/IM 1000mg is a sterile powder for injection containing Cefoperazone Sodium as the active ingredient, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. CEFOPERZ is formulated for intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) administration and is commonly used in hospital settings for moderate to severe systemic infections when oral therapy is not feasible.

Key Benefits of (CEFOPERZ IV/IM 1000 MG):
How To Use (CEFOPERZ IV/IM 1000 MG):
Reconstitute the vial with appropriate diluent (e.g., sterile water, 0.9% NaCl, or lidocaine for IM use).
When Not to Use (CEFOPERZ IV/IM 1000 MG):
Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to cefoperazone, other cephalosporins, or penicillins (especially anaphylaxis). Avoid in neonates with hyperbilirubinemia (cefoperazone can displace bilirubin from albumin). Contraindicated in patients with severe bleeding disorders unless vitamin K is co-administered (cefoperazone may cause hypoprothrombinemia).
Side Effects of (CEFOPERZ IV/IM 1000 MG):
Common: Pain at injection site (IM), diarrhea, nausea, rash, elevated liver enzymes.
Serious (rare): Hypoprothrombinemia with bleeding (due to vitamin K deficiency), Clostridioides difficile colitis, allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), neutropenia, or transient eosinophilia. Monitor coagulation parameters in high-risk patients.

Who It’s For (CEFOPERZ IV/IM 1000 MG):
Hospitalized adults and adolescents with moderate to severe bacterial infections requiring parenteral antibiotic therapy. Not for outpatient or mild infections. Use only under medical supervision in clinical settings.
Warnings & Precautions:
Cefoperazone may cause hypoprothrombinemia—administer vitamin K prophylactically in malnourished, elderly, or renal/hepatic impaired patients. Avoid alcohol during and up to 5 days after treatment (disulfiram-like reaction possible). Monitor CBC, LFTs, and coagulation profile during prolonged therapy.
Drug Interactions:
Alcohol → disulfiram-like reaction (flushing, tachycardia).
Aminoglycosides → synergistic but increased nephrotoxicity risk.
Anticoagulants (warfarin) → enhanced bleeding risk due to vitamin K antagonism.
Probenecid may increase cefoperazone levels. Always review concomitant medications.
