Product Information:
BASAGINE 3mL Vial contains Glucagon as the active ingredient, a peptide hormone used as an emergency treatment for severe hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) in patients with diabetes who are unconscious, seizing, or unable to take oral carbohydrates. It works by stimulating the liver to release stored glucose into the bloodstream. BASAGINE is supplied as a sterile powder and diluent for reconstitution, ready for immediate subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous injection.

BASAGINE is indicated for:
Key Benefits of (BASAGINE 3ML VIAL):
How To Use (BASAGINE 3ML VIAL):
For hypoglycemia: Reconstitute the vial by injecting the entire contents of the diluent syringe into the glucagon vial. Gently swirl to dissolve—do not shake. Administer the full dose (1 mL = 1 mg glucagon) via subcutaneous, intramuscular, or IV route. After injection, turn the patient on their side and call for emergency help. Once conscious, give oral sugar (e.g., juice, glucose tablets).
For diagnostic use: Administer as directed by a radiologist, typically 0.2–2 mg IV/IM.
When Not to Use (BASAGINE 3ML VIAL):
Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to glucagon or lactose (as the powder may contain lactose monohydrate). Avoid in cases of starvation-induced hypoglycemia, adrenal insufficiency, or chronic hypoglycemia where glycogen stores are depleted—glucagon will be ineffective. Not a substitute for oral glucose in conscious patients.
Side Effects of (BASAGINE 3ML VIAL):
Common: Nausea, vomiting, transient tachycardia, and headache.
Rare but serious: Allergic reactions (rash, hypotension, anaphylaxis), especially in patients with pheochromocytoma or insulinoma. Overuse may cause hyperglycemia, electrolyte imbalance, or pancreatitis.
Dosage: (BASAGINE 3ML VIAL):
Adults & children ≥25 kg: 1 mg (1 mL) as a single dose.
Children <25 kg: 0.5 mg (0.5 mL) or 20–30 mcg/kg if weight-based dosing is preferred.
Repeat dose may be given after 15 minutes if no response and emergency help is delayed. Always follow up with oral carbohydrates once alert.
Who It’s For (BASAGINE 3ML VIAL):
Diabetic patients (type 1 or insulin-treated type 2) at risk of severe hypoglycemia, especially those living alone or with history of hypoglycemic unawareness. Also used by hospitals and clinics for GI imaging procedures. Not intended for routine blood sugar management.
Warnings & Precautions:
Ensure family members or caregivers know how to reconstitute and inject BASAGINE. Store at room temperature (avoid freezing). Discard if solution is cloudy or discolored after reconstitution. Patients should wear medical ID indicating diabetes and glucagon availability. After use, seek immediate medical evaluation—even if symptoms resolve.
Drug Interactions:
Beta-blockers may blunt tachycardia response, masking effectiveness. Indomethacin may reduce glucagon’s hyperglycemic effect. Concurrent use with warfarin may increase INR variability. Always inform healthcare providers of all medications.
Additional Information:
Store unopened kit below 25°C. Do not freeze. Protect from light. Check expiry date before use. Keep in easily accessible location (e.g., bedside, travel bag). Available by prescription in Pakistan.
