APIXAGET 5mg Tablets contain Apixaban as the active ingredient, a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) that selectively inhibits Factor Xa in the coagulation cascade. By blocking Factor Xa, it reduces thrombin generation and prevents the formation of harmful blood clots. APIXAGET 5mg is the standard dose used for stroke prevention in non-valvular atrial fibrillation and for the treatment and secondary prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).

APIXAGET 5mg Tablets are indicated for:

1. Prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in adult patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.
2. Treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
3. Prevention of recurrent DVT and PE after initial therapy.
4. Prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in adults following hip or knee replacement surgery (in specific regimens).

Avoid in patients with mechanical heart valves or antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), as safety is not established. Contraindicated with strong dual inhibitors of CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein (e.g., ketoconazole, ritonavir).

Common: Easy bruising, nosebleeds, gum bleeding, nausea, anemia.

Serious (rare): Major or life-threatening bleeding (e.g., gastrointestinal, intracranial), spinal/epidural hematoma (especially with catheter use), allergic reactions. Seek emergency care for signs like unusual weakness, dizziness, pink/brown urine, black/tarry stools, or severe headaches.

Dosage: (APIXAGET 5MG TABLETS):

Standard adult dose: 5mg twice daily.

Reduced dose (2.5mg twice daily) is used only in patients with ≥2 of: age ≥80 years, body weight ≤60 kg, or serum creatinine ≥1.5 mg/dL.

For VTE treatment: 10mg twice daily for 7 days, then 5mg twice daily. Always follow your physician’s prescribed regimen.
